Zach Smith is a former college football player at Mercyhurst University, former strength & conditioning coach at the University of Rochester, received his masters in Organizational Leadership at Gonzaga University, current tech salesman, avid long distance runner, and amateur pianist.
Zach and I begin by talking about his time at Mercyhurst University & what he gained from the entire experience. He then goes through his journey of being an exercise science major to working at the University of Rochester in a clinical setting as well as being a strength and conditioning coach for their sports teams.
With his athletic experience, we dive into the world of fitness training, his current running club in Atlanta, how to have longevity in the sport you love, why recovery is so important, and the type of training you should do forever.
Next we jump into a discussion on flow state, how to achieve it, what it can do for your productivity, and some of the big names behind the entire field of study.
We discuss the current state of society and social media, capitalizing on hardships as opportunities, and even how he got into playing the piano!
Zach was always someone I looked up to in college in terms of work ethic and attitude, so I’m very grateful we were able to sit down through zoom and catch up in an intentional way.
Hope y’all enjoy 🫡
