When my foster parents  bought a 200 year old home in the middle of historic Georgetown South Carolina,  it came with a creepy decommissioned elevator.  While the thing and the room it was in always gave me the creeps, nothing ever happened to me. However when my friend Bill was left alone upstairs in my house he had a terrifying experience.
