Shuli Elisheva was a transphobic, homophobic Orthodox Jewish man. Except she wasn’t a man. Except she was in a man’s body. Married to a Jewish female rabbi and the main caretaker for their child, to the outside world she was successful. But inside, things were all mixed up.
All her life, until she transitioned into a woman’s body, when she looked in the mirror she didn’t see herself. Then she knew she was not a man. Fighting this truth for more than a year, she finally succumbed to it and transitioned into the woman she was. She never could have imagined how many parts of her identity she would lose in the process, nor how happy she could be. Listen to how she navigated her journey into her true identity, with a body to match it, and remains a practicing Orthodox Jew.
