Becoming The Hero

Ep. 4 - Forget Permission, Learn to Provide Value with Ty Crockett

Listen Later

Welcome back to the 4th episode of the Hard Thing Podcast. In this Episode, I talk with my good friend, Ty Crockett.
Ty is a developer for Utah based company, Weave.
In this episode, Ty shares with us the story of how he moves from sales rep to customer support to the install team and finally to development. He did all this without a college degree.
In today's conversation, we talk about forgetting permission and really thinking about how to give value. It's a really insightful conversation because it deals with ideas that are basically contrary to all of our basic impulses. Naturally, we complain and revert to a victim mentality. Ty shares how he changed his mindset to one of trying to add as much value as possible.
Ty Crockett is also working on a budgeting app that should streamline sorting your expenses and help you keep a running total. If you want to reach out to Ty, check out his website, econfinancial.com.
In the show we also introduce our new show sponsor, Audible. They are a premiere audiobook platform that offers over 180,000 different titles you can listen to from your Iphone, Android or any other device.
Audible is offering listeners of the The Hard Thing Podcast a free Audiobook and a free 30 day trial.

ACTION ITEMS:
1. Take a minute and identify a problem at your place of work. Identify solutions and then begin to implement at least one solution. Do this in an effort to provide value to the people around you.
2. Go talk to your supervisor and ask if there is anything more you can do to earn more compensation. Your boss should be able to help you identify a path that can lead you to a higher compensation rate.
