Episode 4 with Katie and Taylor Wood! This week make sure to study chapters 4, 5, 12, and appendix C of the toolkit!!
Here is a list of ideas on how to love your builders from Katie and Taylor as well so you have them all in one place:
Daily Spiritual Habits
• Kneeling prayer every night
• Family hugs every night
• Use the Builder Handbook (activities + talks in the back)
• Use a whiteboard for the daily schedule (set it out during breakfast)
⸻
Devotionals & Gospel Growth
• Devotionals based on what your builders love (ex: sports-themed devo)
• Question devo: builders submit anonymous gospel questions to study together
• Write down a gospel question, put it in a hat, and answer one as a group
• Lead discussions that apply to real life at home (scripture study tips, applying what they learned, etc.)
• Print the Restoration Proclamation (mini version to keep in scriptures) and study it together
• Give each builder a printed General Conference talk tailored to them/their struggles
• Prayer activity: everyone writes something they want prayed for, then others randomly pick one and pray for them
• Bring hard cover Books of Mormon and let builders decorate them
• Add paint, personal touches, pictures of family
• Mark favorite scriptures for each other
⸻
Building Connection & Unity
• Bus buddies
• Table/bus seating assignments (rotate)
• Builder ministering: each person draws a name and intentionally serves that person all day
• Spotlight birthdays: celebrate 1–2 builders each day (songs, letting them go first, extra attention all day)
• Text parents at the end of the trip sharing what you love about their kid
⸻
Fun Activities
• S’mores night
• Watch the sunrise together one morning
• Boys & girls day (separate vans, meals, and end with a separate devo/Q&A)
• Final night celebration: fancy dinner, dress up, take pictures, awards
• Paper plate awards at the end of the trip
• Spotlight days (birthday-style celebrations for each builder)
• Karaoke night
• Skits/performances by committees (have parent builders judge)
• Art night (painting, colored pencils, etc.)
• Bracelet making / hair wraps / beads
• Spa night
