SOS Galgos
The purity of a person’s heart can be quickly measured by how they regard animals. This quote couldn’t be further from the truth. One such amazing heart is that of Anna Clements, the co-founder and director of SOS Galgos, based in Barcelona, Spain. Her work is the absolute definition of the unbridled beauty of humanity. Along with her partners and the majority of the Spanish people, she has taken on the quandary of the Galgos or Spanish greyhounds by standing firmly against the torturing, abandoning and killing of thousands of these dogs every year by galgueros, or hunters in Spain. Anna has been an animal advocate for over 20 years and has collaborated with people from all over the world to liberate Galgos and to deliver them to safety. In addition to running the rescue, Anna Clements implemented a unique educational experience at SOS Galgos where school-aged children come to play with and learn about Galgos first-hand. She firmly believes the solution lies in educating the next generation to decrease animal abandonment and mistreatment for decades to come.
We will also hear from Ronda Hart about her visit to Spain from America and her collaboration with Galgo rescues, which ultimately resulted in her transporting some of these beautiful creatures back to the United States. I also implore you to sign the petition on sosgalgos.org to include all working dogs under the protection of the law in Spain. You’ll learn more about the possible modification of this amendment , which may be passed within December of 2022. You can also sign a pre-written letter addressed to the Spanish Ambassador and send it via email. One can do so even after the amendment has passed. By clicking on the Facebook link below, you will be routed to my video explaining how you can simply copy, paste, sign and send the letter to
[email protected] .
Please join the thousands of people around the world to help increase international pressure on the Spanish government to include hunting dogs, therapy dogs and police dogs under animal protection laws as all working dogs currently do not qualify for this protection as pets do. People can cruelly mistreat these dogs, as the courtesy of animal protection is not extended to them.
Tune in to learn more about the plight of the Galgos and how, together, we can help to end their suffering once and for all.
