A summer morning in a small Alabama town was the last place a 12 year old girl was seen in 1984. Did Sherry ever get the soda that she intended to buy with the dollar her step-father had just given her while he ran in the bank. He asked her to be back in 15 minutes, but how many minutes did it take for their world to be turned upside down? 

• She also adored her step-father. When he was leaving to go into town to go to the bank, she came running outside with her shoes in hand begging to go with. 
• Raymond (her step father) went into the bank to sign papers, he gave her $1 to go get a soda. One article said it was from a vending machine, another said it was from a Chevron gas station. 
• Raymond told her to meet him back at the truck in 15 minutes. 
• She was last seen crossing the street towards the Chevron gas station at 9:30 am. 
• She didn’t come back after 15 minutes and Raymond began to get frustrated. It was not like Sherry to be late or disobey. After another 10 minutes he called Betty at her job at the local Waffle House to see if she happened to have gone over there to say hi.   Betty said that Sherry was not there. Raymond then called the cops and that began the nightmare her poor mother has endured her entire life since then.
