Before joining Sacramento State, Sidorkin held several prestigious positions, including the dean of the Graduate School of Education and director of the Center for the Study of Innovation in Education at HSE University in Moscow. He has also served as dean at Rhode Island College's Feinstein School of Education and Human Development and director of the School of Teacher Education at the University of Northern Colorado, alongside professorial appointments at Bowling Green State University and Novosibirsk State Pedagogical University in Russia.
Sidorkin's academic achievements are notable, with two doctorates in education from Moscow’s Research Institute for Theory and History of Education and the University of Washington, and a master's degree in peace studies from the University of Notre Dame. His teaching and research interests span dialogical education, the economics of education, and innovation diffusion in education. Originally from Novosibirsk in western Siberia, Sidorkin's personal journey from a history teacher to an influential figure in education demonstrates his deep commitment to the field.
