Healing Myself

Ep. 40: That healing just hit different.

Listen Later

The last couple of episodes, we've talked about being in relationship with other folks. This episode, we want to talk about being in relationship with ourselves, and how healing truly changes the way that we show up for ourselves and for others.

Pastor Jerry Flowers said: "healed people see different, healed people think different" It’s a powerful statement that we came to unpack today, among other things:

  • People are out here, using yesterday's pain as today's perspective.

  • Seeing things through the lens of your own pain.

  • Learning to see things through the lens of your own healing.

Join us as we discuss the importance of letting go of the perspective of our past wounds and embracing the healing process. Acknowledging and addressing past traumas helps break free from denial and allows for a more fulfilling future.

WHAT TO LISTEN FOR:

Embracing uncomfortability for growth and destiny [6:32]

  • Growth is not always comfortable

  • Being comfortable can lead to complacency

  • Uncomfortability is not the same as pain. It may be necessary for growth and expansion

  • Changing perspective to see uncomfortability as a part of growth

  • Understanding that past experiences are necessary for growth and moving forward towards one's destiny.

Overcoming avoidance [9:00]

  • Avoidance keeps one stuck and operates through the lens of wounds and trauma

  • Talking through past mistakes allows for growth and moving forward

  • Healing allows for stepping out in faith and reaching the next level

How do mistakes become traumas for us? [10:46]

  • Failure to acknowledge and reveal past hurts can prevent healing

  • Lack of self-awareness and support from others can keep people stuck

  • Not acknowledging a problem as a problem prevents addressing it

  • Denial may be a factor in not acknowledging the issue

Navigating through the haze [27:13]

  • Reminding yourself that you're not alone.
  • Forgiving ourselves as many times as we need to.
