Rebecca Silverman is co-founder of Rose Café, a community-owned bookstore and coffee shop in the Roseland and Rosemore communities on the South Side of Chicago. Rose Café was born in 2020 when Iesha Malone (Founder & Owner of Rose Café) was inspired by her community's actions in cleaning up their streets in the wake of protests following the death of George Floyd. In our conversation with Rebecca, we discuss her start in education and experience with Teach for America, the mission and progress of Rose Café including donating over 5,000 books to the community, her current teaching role on the South Side of Chicago, and what books we're currently reading. Finally, Rebecca answers the Final Project Question:
