Zahier lost his sight at 19 due to a retinal detachment. The initial shock was severe. Yet, his grit and the presence of strong support led him to chart a new path. He slowly picked up his passion again – music. He learnt to play multiple musical instruments (e.g, guitar, drum & ukulele) even after he turned blind. He is now married with a young boy, and works hard to provide for this family. He works in a perfumery, plays music in a band, and gives speeches primarily to school students. We discuss his story, struggles, and the process of acceptance and moving forward. We also get treated to a special performance.
