This is a life-changing conversation with a model of what healing looks like. Sia’s theme is “all things healing in every capacity of a person’s life.” This is evident in her life and work.

She shares her favorite memory; something that taught her how to navigate life. Then, she went on to define trauma, with a focus on her perspective and experience of how diaspora parents of African descend unconsciously transmits trauma to the next generation.

We also talked about the seemingly normalization of abuse in African communities.

I got a lot out of this conversation but my biggest takeaway, at the top of my mind, is the importance of being aware of what I wanted as a child and using that knowledge to transform my parenting.
