One half of our duo, Meri, grew up in a family with strong hindu religious beliefs.
This meant she had to follow specific rules when she first got her first period and subsequently every time of the month.
Without proper education of the rituals, she never understood why she and the females of her family had to go through an experience that made them feel isolated and ashamed of their natural cycle.
Female bodies, physiologically and emotionally, go through enough already, do we really need the society and religion to add more suffering to that?
To this day, Meri continuously stands up for her belief that women shouldn't have to go through a degrading experience and literally be made to feel impure.
