“It was by the EVIL use of his free will that man destroyed both it and himself.”
~ Augustine
“For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love.”
~ Galatians 5:13 NLT
Hey Guys, Welcome back to the GraftedIn Podcast!
This episode the boys sit down to discuss the somewhat controversial topic of ‘Free Will’. Throughout Christian and religious circles the debate of whether or not humans have ultimate free will or a muddied down, God controlled and puppeteered version carries on to this day.
The idea that we humans have complete feee will, that is, we are able to and are fully responsible for deciding our own fates in eternity, by choosing to do either right or wrong every moment of every day, is a theme carried out from the Garden of Eden in Genesis to the End Times spoken of in the book of Revelation.
The flip side of the argument however, that Free Will isn’t really free at all and that all humans are just acting out decisions and actions that were predetermined for us by God from the beginning, doesn’t marry up with the character of the God of the Bible.
Tune in this episode! As the lads break down the definition of Free Will, what the Bible says about it and what the stories of our Biblical Heroes portray to us regarding the topic.
