WHO IS VIOLET?

Violet Lemay was a stage designer, a university art professor, and an editorial illustrator before arriving at her dream job: writing and illustrating books for kids. She has illustrated forty-four books, six of which she also wrote.

Clients include HarperCollins, Penguin Random House, Scholastic, duopress, 'Magination Press, and Highlights. Her latest book, Let's Be Friends (Harper Festival/2021), won Book-Fest's first place award for diversity in children's books.

A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Violet, and her family moved to New Zealand in 2015 for her husband's job. After five years in Auckland, they moved to China, and they now live in Malaysia.
