From simply not knowing where to go or look, to not wanting to come off as insensitive, and with life still happening and bills needing to be paid, just the thought of networking as a creative during COVID can prove to be overwhelming.
Luckily, during this episode #049 of the First Year Out Podcast host, Dyme Witherspoon speaks on the two essential elements needed to have positive networking experiences during these troublesome times.
Simply put, you must remember that when networking it is not about you (02:24). In other words, the goal of networking should not be to gain a new client or to make a new sale. The goal should be (and the second point) is to be of service. Dyme goes on to give her interpretation of this and gives an anecdote on how she's been using these principles to empower Black entrepreneurs in the San Diego community (05:22).
