I’ve never been very competitive.
In high school track, I wasn’t trying to beat the guy in the next lane — I was studying the best in the world and asking, “How can I get better?”
This week, that mindset showed up in my parenting.
Monday was smooth.
Wednesday was chaos. I yelled.
Instead of blaming my son, I did what I used to do as an athlete — I looked for a coach.
In this episode, I talk about:
Why frustration is often a signal of ignorance
How seeking expertise beats reacting emotionally
What “connection before correction” actually looks like
The difference between competing with others and competing with yourself
Ignorance made me yell.
Learning helped me connect.
If something isn’t working — at home, at work, in your body — find a coach.
Growth is a choice.
