It was January 2015 when the words “it’s cancer” were uttered. It was a road never travelled before. Although many would think it was a nightmare, Desri knew it was a journey with a destination of survival at the other end. Throughout the journey, Desri learned the beauty of having a solid plan, the power of positivity, the importance of being your own advocate, the value of a supportive community, and what courage really looks like.
