Towards what goals or unconscious motivational forces are we orienting ourselves? The spaciousness of authentic presence can give rise to fresh and novel awareness. We tend to unconsciously avoid these novelties because we are creatures of reductionism and habit. That is, we reduce our energy and attentional output to only that which is necessary in relationship to the hierarchies of motivationally relevant information. This can cause a myopic way of living. Hyper habituated attentional patterns, if not mindfully created, can become ruts that we are stuck in. These are stagnant relational and perceptual modes of being and are ultimately stunting the path towards self-realization.
