Eighteen years old and on a plane to Australia, Bart felt free for the first time. He left behind the “empty, no identity, in prison,” version of himself. He began discovering who was under that burden, including exploring and embracing being gay. Until, always using protection, he got infected with HIV and was kicked out of the country.

In Thailand, trying to find love in the gay community that also discriminated against HIV, he became an addict to sex, crystal meth and GHB.
