There is a period of 40 days after Jesus' resurrection when Jesus continually appeared to His disciples. During this time He teaches them the truth of what just happened. He helps them unlearn their earlier expectations of what would happen when the Messiah comes and teaches them the spiritual meaning of His own resurrection. They had known Jesus for 3 years. They knew their scriptures. They thought that they knew what they needed to know about the Messiah from the scriptures but they needed the revelation that Jesus provided over these 40 days to understand them in a whole new way. The way that they were intended. The way that revealed that Jesus had been present through all of the stories of the Jewish scriptures. The Old Testament. The truth about Jesus was always there but they lacked the revelation to understand it. Pastor Todd explains this.
