Mr. Sunshine is set during the early 1900s and follow a story of a man who was a slave as a child but esscaped aboard a U.S Ship and grew up in America. He later returns to Joseon as an American soldier,Eugene Choi. During his time in Joseon he fell in love with an aristocrat's daughter, Go Ae Shin who is a part of the Righteous Army to fight for her country's independence.

Their love is challenged by their different classes and Kim Hui Seong, a nobleman who is Ae Shin's fiance since childhood. Eugene Choi also encounters Goo Dong Mae, a ruthless samurai and Kudo Hina, owner of the Glory Hotel where he stays.

This drama talks about the political tension between Japan, Joseon and America during that period of time. Watch to find out how their relationship unfold, and if Joseon survive independence.
