Dr. Pam was living her best life, super duper happily married for 18 years, engaged in satisfying work lifting people up. But in 2019, a series of events turned her world upside down, delivering mortality motivation on the scale of shock treatments. Her husband died. She had a traumatic brain injury (TBI) (and didn’t die…). Then open heart surgery, with a near death moment recovering from that. And let’s throw in catching COVID, landing her 10 days hospitalized in isolation. Her oldest brother died. And her youngest. And her brother-in-law.
With a background in mental health, Dr. Pam knew to get professional help to process all this grief and change. The loss of her role as a wife was enough by itself. But the TBI caused temporary loss of her physical and cognitive independence. Find out how Dr. Pam navigated through this demanding life chapter to become the “Find Purpose After 50” coach for women.
Bio
Since birth, God has abundantly blessed Dr. Pamela Jackson-Smith to overcome obstacles that the average person would’ve let destroy them. Instead of shrinking back and using her experiences as a crutch, she uses her funny, outgoing approach as a certified life coach to lead women over 50 into an excited, purpose-led life!
Although a bright, studious child who excelled academically, she suffered bouts of rheumatic fever, which severely inhibited her physical ability. During her college years, naysayers tried to dissuade her from pursuing a graduate degree, but she proved them wrong, going on to earn a M.Ed. in Mental Health Counseling and a Doctorate in Education. Despite the loss of both her husband and several loved ones within a short period of time, suffering a brain injury, and undergoing open heart surgery - all while working to find herself again, Dr. Pam came out on the other side unscathed — an unfaltering symbol of resilience for women searching for purpose later in life.
