Many of the folx I sit with in Spiritual Direction have received unmeetable standards from patriarchy, white supremacy culture, high performance culture, and rigid religious culture that berate them from every angle in every minute of every day. Every action and every thought is fodder for judgment for this inner panel of witnesses. 

When this panel of given voices and given narratives is in charge, we cannot be honest or vulnerable with ourselves because our brains and our bodies KNOW that we are not safe enough to be honest or vulnerable with ourselves. The cost to all of this, we cannot be vulnerable with others either… which means no one really knows about the panel or how nasty they are. Today, we talk about what the hell to do then. ;)
