Born with hearing loss and raised in a dysfunctional home environment, Desiree experienced tremendous stress and loneliness.  In her heart, she longed to find unconditional love and acceptance. Because of her hearing impairment, she was constantly made fun of during her pre-teen and teenage years, leaving her feeling lonely, and rejected.  Confused and angry, she walked away from her earlier childhood faith and began spiraling downward into a life of even greater unhappiness.
