Why Dey Do Dat?

Ep 59. Catherine and David Birnie "The Moorhouse Murders"

Listen Later

This week on WDDD? La Shaunda takes us on a journey down under once again. In the 1980s, Australia was rocked by the shocking series of brutal crimes orchestrated by David and Catherine Birnie, known as the Moorehouse Murders. Their heinous acts targeted young women, luring them into their home with deceptive promises of assistance. Once inside, the couple inflicted unspeakable horrors upon their victims, subjecting them to sexual assault, torture, and ultimately, murder. The reign of terror perpetrated by the Birnies finally came to an end in 1986 when a potential victim managed to escape and promptly alerted the authorities. Subsequently, the couple was brought to justice, facing convictions for multiple counts of murder, sexual assault, and kidnapping. As a consequence of their crimes, they were sentenced to life imprisonment.
