Another week, episode 6 here – Thanks for checking out the podcast. This is a docu-series on growth/self-improvement, tech, sports enthusiasm and experiences for building a valuable life. Excited for this episode to talk more about what I'm going through to create a successful and meaningful life.
Here are my notes for this week – Check me out on Twitter and Instagram for other things going on - @trevorsean12
Gratitude
Ambition matters and I believe that I should strive to be as great as I can in everything I do. Along the way, it's also very important to recognize what we have so we don't get discouraged by always chasing. I'm grateful for my parents, my siblings, my friends, my kids, my experiences and failures, and most importantly my wife Joyce.
Strong Questions to Ask
As I was putting this episode together, this question wouldn't leave my mind which was, what does all this mean? Am I just trying to find a self-improvement hack? (Which I don't believe in). What is this "success" I'm working towards; financial, skillset, comfort? What's really important to me is not to create a cover or substitute for the real work that it takes to be a success, but to actually do something and record it so I can remember the experience and lessons. I think about Tom Brady with this, whenever someone asks him what his favorite Super Bowl is, he always says "The next one". I think that's important to remember while I go on this journey, there's going to be many points that were successful that brings me up a level, and then it's onto the next climb.
Set Up Your Life
I've been really impressed with the idea of creating an environment for your work. We all have something that speaks to us and it's important to set up a space that removes barriers for us to get our work done. I think this is even more important now with a lot of people working from home. And you might need to setup multiple spaces based on a side hustle you're working on.
First, start with what you have and make it as nice as you can, give yourself a place that excites you and gets you into your flow. Next, start adding to it little by little. If you were to add just one thing a month, after a year, it could look completely different from when you started.
