Meg explains the concept of “Toxic Positivity” to Casey. She’s been researching it hardcore. It seems her fascination with influencer culture is oddly similar to her fascination with cults and extreme religious leaders/groups. Turns out there’s quite a bit of commonality. Meg shares the necessity of feeling the difficult feelings of sadness, anger, disappointment and grief. You can’t just “get positive” without feeling the feels. Meg and Casey also discuss the difference between acknowledging feelings in a healthy way vs. getting stuck in toxic negativity (see their former episode about Emotional Vampires.) It’s a balancing act for sure. From the news desk: Casey gives an update on the NXIVM sex cult leader who was recently sentenced to jail for 120 years.
Meg shares her Mental Mom Moment: swearing in front of her 7 year old AND her 7 year olds new therapist. Grab a coffee and let’s get this party started.
