Ep 7 - Alisa Ndoci

Listen Later

Born and raised in Fushe-Arrez, Albania, Alisa is a 23 year old poet local to Denver. Alisa immigrated to the United States at the age of 16 and has lived between Seattle, Spokane and Denver the past 7 years. They have spent these years building community, pursuing their education and navigating the life of immigration in the search to discover themselves and who they are.

This search led to many passions such as upcycling of clothes, jewelry making, painting, dancing and finally poetry. Alisa re-found passion for poetry at the doors of Mercury Cafe and uses poetry as a means to speak to her immigration experience. Her poems embody the duality of her existence—a bridge between two worlds, navigating the fragility of belonging while blossoming in the boundless realm of creativity. Their verses weave tales of fractured identities seeking reunion, systemic injustices, longing for home encapsulating both the pain and triumphs of her journey. Through her passion and words, she reminds us that the human spirit knows no boundaries and that poetry, like life itself, transcends borders.

Alisa shares the following poems in this feature:

  1. Visa
  2. First-Born Daughter
  3. Boundaries
  4. Back to Soil
  5. Manhater
  6. Ghosts of Me
