Ep 7: Heritage Railways: Lines to our past, present and future ft. Sam Wyatt

Listen Later

In today’s episode I chat to my partner Sam! Sam is a railway enthusiast and although he enjoys the technical workings of trains, he is also interested in the role they play socially and culturally in society, which is what this episode focuses on.
I discuss with Sam the role museums play in presenting railways to the wider public, how they bring different generations together, and how railways allowed people to explore landscapes further afield. As well as this we also chat about the importance of ‘experience days’ & volunteering with heritage railways. (Recorded June 2019)
P.S. apologies for the slightly choppy audio in this episode! And for any hardcore railway enthusiasts i'm not a railway expert so I apologise if I use incorrect terminology.
