Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Derrex Brady knew from an early age that acting would be his calling. After settling in Los Angeles he began booking commercials immediately. Soon after he started working consistently as an actor in television series such as Lifetime's critically acclaimed drama Any Day Now, USA Network's In Plain Sight, The District, Strong Medicine, Girlfriends, NCIS, etc. and in the feature films Simone (starring Oscar winner Al Pacino), The Space Between (starring Oscar winner Melissa Leo) and in the romantic comedy Questions which recently debuted. Derrex's can be seen in the upcoming feature film Headshop opposite Loretta Devine, Nicole Ari Parker, Deon Cole and Kimberly Elise.

In August the talented actor is one of the leads in Bounce TV's compelling new series, Johnson, which depicts four best friends who met in grade school all with the last name Johnson. The men's long-time friendships are tested after 25 years, due to them being at different places in their lives, threatening the unity that had always been so strong. They are forced to confront and find humor in the most controversial issues from the Black Man's perspective ranging from love, marriage, business, politics and religion. Derrex is married with sons and knows from personal experience that family is everything, so it led him to build a brotherhood on and off screen with his cast mates.

Derrex also has stepped behind the camera to expand his own creativity and business acumen by teaming up with his producing partner M.D. Walton to launch their own production company, Skyscope Pictures. Aside from their slate of projects in development, the company along with esteemed producer/director Anthony Hemingway are working on the feature film Michael, inspired by their award-winning short film, The Championship Rounds, which starred Harold Perrineau, Rutina Wesley, Lawrence Gilliard, Jr. and Michael Anthony Spady.

Between family and his artistry, Derrex believes balance inspires peace. He's a passionate advocate for Young Warriors, a nonprofit organization that provides support and guidance for fatherless boys.
