I have always enjoyed martial arts as a concept, but I've rarely had the privilege of training, so I am pleased that I can now train at Mystic Dojo - Yamashita International Karate.
I've found that what I learn there synergizes very well with what I teach as a coach. Discipline. Continual improvement. Resilience. These are just a few things I'm reminded every time I walk into the dojo.
Last night, the workout was hard. I was tired. My lungs burned and muscles ached. It was the kind of moment where one might say "Too much! I quit!"
But a key to success is to commit to never quit because it is too hard. You can quit because you're on the wrong path. You can quit because the destination is not one you want.
If you're going the right way to the right place, it will get hard at some point. "It's too hard" is never a reason to quit. It just means that you're going the right way.
Some people have asked me about Yamashita, so if you're near Groton, I'd love to invite you to come as my guest to our dojo. I've arranged with Kyoshi that you can train free for two weeks to check it out,
