In this episode, I dive into my unexpected reaction to Baby Girl, the new Nicole Kidman film. While the movie sets up a dynamic between Kidman’s character and her husband that you’re supposed to appreciate, I couldn’t shake this uneasy feeling about their relationship. Then, when the younger love interest enters the picture, I found myself enjoying their dynamic—maybe a little too much.
It got me thinking: why did I feel so drawn to something I knew I wasn’t supposed to? The feeling of being overly complimented, almost love-bombed, felt oddly familiar… and kind of triggering. That realization led me to a funny (and slightly uncomfortable) story from my own life, which I’ll share in this episode.
Let’s talk about unexpected emotional responses, love bombing, and the ways movies can reflect our own experiences—sometimes without us even realizing it.
