"Look at yourself until you love what you see."
I recently had some photos taken of myself for some forthcoming brand updates. My dear friend Meagan took them. My other dear friend Shelley was there too. It was the most supportive environment possible to have photos taken of myself. And I was still insecure.
I got back the photos this weekend and looking through them I could feel my insecurities about my beauty pop right up. This didn't surprise me, but it made me think deeper about how heavily influenced I am, to this day, by our co-created society standards of beauty.
An Instagram post poured out of me on this topic and I knew I had more to say, so I recorded a solo round on the podcast to share a continuation of my thoughts. I think the best way for us to shift our relationship to broken beauty is to talk about it. I'd love to hear your thoughts if you'd like to share.
