The Courage To Live

Ep. 76: Courage Casts - Be The Friend Who Shows Up

Listen Later

This episode is about being the kind of friend who is available when it actually matters. Not just when life is convenient or calm, but when someone is struggling and needs you to pick up the phone at 1:30 in the morning. Josh shares why real friendship is built in those moments when the world feels heavy and everything is falling apart, not during the highlight reel parts of life.

He talks about emotional availability as an actual skill, especially for men and especially for those who work in law enforcement or the military. Many of us were taught to stay controlled, composed, and silent when things are hard, but silence is not strength. It creates distance and isolation. Showing up for someone, even when you do not know what to say, is often the most meaningful thing you can do.

This episode is a reminder to slow down, ask the second question, and pay attention when someone reaches out in small ways. Being a loyal friend is not about fixing every problem. It is about being present when someone needs you the most.
