What number do you dial for access to emergency services? 911, right? An Indianapolis Police Chief's plan includes a significant focus on streamlining access to assistance through the introduction of the 988 helpline instead of calling 911. Tim discusses several issues he has with the implementation of this new number. One main issue is that of causing confusion. If someone who is suffering a mental health crisis dials 911 for assistance, are the dispatchers going to ask them to hang up and dial 988? We wouldn't think so, but this is a major concern.
