This week, we're joined by artist/cartoonist/friend Allyssa Yohana, who assigns us their "All in on a Silly Thing" exercise: a framework for giving oneself permission to commit to a pursuit that feels silly, embarrassing, or frivolous. We go deep (prepare to hear the word "deeply" a lot) on what it means to lower the stakes for creative production.
This week's practice: Choose a silly thing to throw all your weight behind. Draw faces on all your bananas. Put googly eyes on 100 pompoms. Write some fan fiction! Whatever you do, really do it. See where it takes you.
Allyssa Yohana is an artist and visual storyteller currently spending time in a tiny New England town working on projects in visual storytelling for children and young adults. They studied photography and video at SVA.
