Delightful conversation with Noni, DTM,  and 28 year member of Toastmasters.

Noni shares her initial reluctance to join Toastmasters despite encouragement from a friend at UNICEF in New York. Skeptical at first, they were hesitant about participating in public speaking, associating it with unnatural delivery. 

However, after a demo meeting that attracted 46 members in 1996, Noni became involved and appreciated the non-pushy, encouraging environment of Toastmasters.  She discusses her experiences in different Toastmasters clubs, noting cultural nuances and the supportive atmosphere that encourages skill development. 

Now a climate activist, Noni continues to value the skills gained from Toastmasters, finding them helpful in various contexts.
