After this week of nights and coaching I’ve realised there are 6 very important points you need to know if you work in vet med, most around the word “Should”.
Here’s the list of all 6, that I encourage you to have behind your ear/on your phone. I elaborate on them in this episode but remember this check list:
1: “I should know this” No you SHOULDN’T. Don’t make it mean anything about you.
2: “I should be able to resolve this on my own”. No. Be willing to be vulnerable, and show your weakness.
3: “I shouldn’t feel like this”. Yes you should. Vet med gives us a WHOLE range of emotions, none of them are inherently bad unless YOU think so.
4: “There should be THE right decision and I don’t know which one. And I should know”. There is no THE.
5: Trust your gut. Not the text book. Most pets haven’t read the text books.
6: “It went wrong” Did it? Remember to evaluate PROPERLY.
