THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW (1975) d. Jim Sharman (UK/USA) Join us for a special in-depth panel discussion celebrating the 50th anniversary of the iconic The Rocky Horror Picture Show, from its original 1973 stage production to its transformation into midnight movie cult sensation. Come for the magic, stay for the madness! Screenwriter Richard O'Brien and director Jim Sharman shocked audiences with their unique blend of rock 'n' roll, comedy, camp, sci-fi, and horror, and their creation ignited the unforgettable tradition of “Time Warp” midnight screenings worldwide and introduced Dr. Frank-N-Furter, Riff-Raff, Magenta, Columbia, Brad, and (dammit) Janet to an unsuspecting world. We’ll also explore the film’s powerful themes of identity, self-expression, and freedom – central to songs like “Don’t Dream It, Be It, “Hot Patootie,” and “Sweet Transvestite.” Join AC and his extraordinary roster of guests (Ashley Lamers, Lin Morris, Amy Pearson,Chris Wylie) as we reflect on how Rocky Horror’s groundbreaking legacy, inspiring generations of fans to live boldly and unapologetically. Whether you’re a Rocky Horror veteran or discovering it for the first time, the rebellious spirit of its music, characters, and message continue to resonate after 50 years. -------------------------------------------- ASHLEY LAMERS is a professional counselor, animal advocate, coffee enthusiast, straight edge vegan feminist, and horror lover with a “do no harm, take no shit” sensibility. She has two cats, a business, and many opinions. LIN MORRIS is a writer who makes his living doing something else entirely. His novels Spot the Not and The Marriage Wars are both available on Amazon. The first movie he recalls seeing is Two on a Guillotine at the Super 99 Drive-In at much too young an age, and he’s been a horror fan ever since. Despite the strenuous efforts of his parents, he remains stubbornly left handed. AMY PEARSON is an assistant professor in the Department of Psychology at Durham University. In addition to being a whopping great horror enthusiast, she's also a power lifter, photographic model, and aerialist. CHRIS WYLIE is the co-host of Deep Cuts Horror Trivia in Chicago, and an avid lover of psychological and trash horror. He believes we need to stop shaming people for not having seen certain movies, and has had his ass kicked by Batgirl on film. --------------------------------------------- Keep Searching, Keep Exploring, and, most of all, Keep Sharing the Scare!!
