Hi there! This is the "Dad" of the podcast. Many parents ask when they should start having discussions with their children about topics such as cyber bullying, pornography, sexting, dating, internet safety, etc,. My answer to that is simple. When is the age that you see children with cellphones? In our case, my daughter was in 4th grade when a boy in her class had a smart phone. To me, that means he has access to the internet to look up anything he's curious about and he can download social media. That told me that it was time to start having those conversations because whether I think she's ready or not those conversations are happening around her whether she's participating or listening. My professional career has always evolved around youth and during the conversations I have, my eyes are opened to the truths they experience. You'd be surprised at how many girls have told me they looked into suicide because they were cyber bullied; or, how grown men who knew of their age would send them an inappropriate picture or request for them to send them an inappropriate picture. On this episode, I reflect on some of the things my daughter and I spoke about during the podcast. Please rate, review, comment, and subscribe if you like this content.
