This episode is sponsored by the book “Ten Tips On How To Survive Your Parent’s Divorce.” Do you know of a child who is to young for them to express themselves? This coloring book can possibly help them. This book was actually written by two kid authors: Becca and Connor. Their own expense of divorce can help other kids because again this book was written by kids.
You can purchase the book at BlendingTheFamily.com or even on Amazon.
My guest is Amy Lyle and here is a little bit from her bio.
"maybe something like- after being in corporate America for 20 years our next guest went into shock when she got remarried and was trying to blend 2 households, 4 kids, 2 dogs and several guinea pigs. Luckily, she saw the humor in it all and wrote about even the most mortifying moments of being a stepmom- called The Book Of Failures. The book opens with "I've been married for twenty years, not to the same people, but twenty years nonetheless." Amy is now a regular on Atlanta's popular morning show Atlanta and Company and a frequent guest on radio programs, does stand up comedy and always incorporates her real-life struggles of marriage and children into her act. Or something like that..."
When Amy and I sat down, well I am guessing she was sitting since we were virtual and not face to face. My failure to check her sound level ended up as a “take 2.” She was super kind to actually trust me and come back on (a few hours later).
Obviously there was a lot of discussion about #failures but we did talk about how we “humans” learn from our mistakes also to teach our kids as parents that it is a good thing to make mistakes.
Her book "The Book Of Failures" has personal stories talking about how she has bounced back even for example falling down a flight of stairs while "not chipping" her tooth.
One of the stories Amy and I talk about is how Billionaire Sara Blakely’s dad would ask her and her brother if they “failed” anything that week. Turns out both Amy and I have a crush on Sara.
Other topics we cover:
Very ironic that we were talking about failing and I did just that with my technical issue. However Amy was AWESOME to come back on.
Also on her Facebook she is taking ideas from you for her next book. Who knows but your funny failure could get you into Amy's second book.
