Damon Broyles Bio:

Dr. Damon Broyles currently has the privilege of serving as VP of Clinical Innovation for Mercy Technology Services, part of Mercy’s Office of Transformation. Mercy is a $6B healthcare organization encompassing 40+ hospitals, 3,200 integrated providers and 44,000 coworkers.

Dr. Broyles is a board-certified ABFM Diplomate and Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians with a subspecialty certification in Clinical Informatics from the ABPM. He trained at UM, Columbia and completed a chief residency in 2004. He serves as Med Director for MCED in Mercy’s Dept of Precision Medicine. As a technologist, his role comprises two core fundamentals - one, optimization of the Epic EHR platform in pursuit of medicine’s quadruple aim. Secondly, Dr. Broyles leads efforts to source, synthesize and integrate new & state of the science technologies into the larger Mercy health system strategy.

In pursuit of this second goal, he has developed deep relationships with the accelerator and tech startup ecosystem. He volunteers as an entrepreneurial and health IT mentor at Sling Health – a national biotech and healthcare incubator with roots at Washington University. Additionally, he’s been engaged with the Skandalaris Center LEAP initiative and the UM system EQ accelerator. He participates on the Community of Health Innovation Leaders for the GlobalSTL initiative and serves on the Missouri Biotechnology Board of Directors. He represents Mercy’s perspective via an array of digital health and biotech board appointments. Dr. Broyles holds a profound dedication to advancing the health of patients and communities via the use of creative and ingenious applications of novel solutions.

Dr. Broyles has a diverse and experienced background with deep expertise in value-based care. He has previously held a seat on the St. Louis Physician Alliance ACO Board of Managers and concurrently chaired their technology committee during their initial 3 year successes. At Mercy, he currently is assigned as an informatics facilitator and innovator for MTS and Mercy’s expansive value based population health portfolio. Additionally, he co-founded Where4.Care – a chatbot based mobile application employing NLP aimed at reducing unnecessary ER utilization. Prior to his current role, Dr. Broyles served as the CMIO for St. Anthony’s Medical Center and physician organization, a 700+ bed hospital with 150+ integrated providers. His additional leadership experience includes serving as past president of the St. Louis Academy of Family Physicians and appointments to a wide swath of hospital and health system committees.
