There is a petition going around right now that would get legislation going to codify the river and stream access for kayakers, rafters and fishermen in Colorado. The Access and Conservation Director for Colorado Whitewater is joining us to explain and update the situation as well stoke the fire for this issue. Background: Currently access for the public on bodies of water that border or are wholly within private land is limited to floating through only and under no circumstance is touching the bank or stream bed allowed even if safety dictates otherwise. It is also still legal to put up barriers to small craft such as fences and low head dams or just about any other hazard. Current paddling and rafting access through private sections of land on Colorados rivers is gained by the adherence of landowners to an opinion from a former CO Attorney General from the 70's!! Listen or watch and get the whole story. I was lucky enough to get this interview in person on location.
