Ep 93: Interview with Wendi Burkhardt, founder of Silvernest

Listen Later

Home sharing no longer applies just to college students and young professionals. Due to social and financial needs now baby boomers and empty nesters are looking for roommates. Whether they need some extra income to help pay the mortgage or they just don't like being alone all the time, the 50+ age group is turning to home sharing and Silvernest is the solution.

Silvernest.com has built a robust roommate matching service which takes a bunch of criteria into consideration. They also help with lease documents and take care of the monthly rent payments. Silvernest.com was started when the founders saw an opportunity to help the millions of baby boomers living alone but wanting to stay in their homes.

In this interview I spoke with Wendi about why and when the company was started, their experience going through the 500 Startups Accelerator program, raising capital, how the company has been growing and acquiring customers, how they make money, the key partnerships that are driving awareness for this service, how they plan to build a larger integrated baby boomer service platform and much more.

Thanks for listening.
