**Acharya Christie Bates (Passatininna) is a Dharmacharya/Lay Minister of the Embracing Simplicity Contemplative Order, ordained by Venerable Pannavati and Venerable Pannadipa. She is founder and co-teacher of Deep South Dharma's Practice Group. She teaches occasional retreats in other settings and is a Licensed Professional Counselor for TN and MS. She has previous experience as a contemplative therapist and program director in residential trauma treatment, and has worked for many years to help people gain freedom from the tyranny of self through wise and ethical practice.
