The bible says that we will all die someday and then after death we will stand before God to give an account for how we have lived our lives. Those who placed their trust in Jesus will be rewarded with the opportunity to spend eternity with Him. Sadly, those who took the admonition lightly will be condemned to an eternity in the lake of fire.
