Homelessness has become a serious problem. Unfortunately, homelessness is a problem in every country, in most major cities the homeless find a place to rest not to easy. One man, Norman McGillivray decided he would be a solution to this problem in his country. Over 8,000 people across Australia sleep rough every night. Hundreds of people lose their lives every year as a result of sleeping rough from suicide, overdoses, infected wounds and pneumonia to name a few. More startling is the average life expectancy of someone who is long term sleeping rough is just 47 years of age. Beddown was created to address the issue of sleeping rough through an innovative approach to viewing space differently. Beddown takes spaces which are busy during the day but left empty and vacant at night and activates and repurposes the space into a safe and secure shelter which provides beds for our guests to access to get a great night's sleep.#Voice4theVoiceless.
