When people fail, it is often not because they give up. It is because they get distracted. They get Shiny Object Syndrome.

They lose focus on the fundamentals that drive the project.

Money. Revenue. Clients. Recruiting.

Once you have a little success, it's easy to start getting excited and jump into all these other areas. Diversification is fine, as long as you keep the core in mind.

But it is so easy to get distracted from that core, because other parts of the business may be more exciting and more fun.

I love making these videos. They are so much fun, but they bring in a tenth of what my focused prospecting activities bring in.

I got distracted with all these whizbang technologies and techniques and got away from the simple, core strategy that got me started. Whizbang is great, but don't give up the tried and true for it.

We all need a reminder now and then.
