Dr. Kate Pate is a neurophysiologist who has been conducting research for 15 years in a variety of different areas, including neurotrauma, respiratory neurobiology, mental health, redox biology, and combat trauma.

Traumatic brain injuries are more frequent in the military these days. The military health system statistical data states that between 2020 and 2nd quarter of 2023, the U.S. military saw approximately 486,000 cases of traumatic brain injury of which 82.2% experienced a mild traumatic brain injury (concussion), 11.3% experienced a mild TBI, 1% experienced a severe TBI, while 1.2% experienced a penetrating TBI.
